Mt. Zion Lodge #74 met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. with NG Don Free presiding

Roll Call: taken with absentees noted… None

Reading of the Records: approved as read

Sick and Distressed: Approved $150.00 – each (3 weeks): Wayne Fair, Rebecca Wagaman, Tammy Eichelberger

Visiting Committee Report: None

Bills: in the amount of $4155.23 were approved on motions by Sam Thieret and Dave Zutell

Communications: Read and disposed of

Application for Membership: Smokey Dehoff and Blake Chronister

Interviewing Committee Report: the two applicants were found acceptable for membership
alloting: was held for Lisa Krout- she was voted in Degree work: Degree work will be held on the 20th of January

Finance Committee: No report

Building Committee: Motion was made by Sam Thieret and Dave Zutell to approve going ahead with new siding for our building. Approved. Following discussion on the bids received. Jerry Seyler motioned to let the final decision up to the Building Committee to proceed as they see fit. Charles Males seconded the motion. Carried. Jerry Seyler said we had a surplus of $20,000, so no stock would need to be sold to pay for the building update. Don Free is still working on getting approval from the township for a sign for the front side of our building. Richard Dibble suggested having the Rebekah’s also listed on the sign.

Social Committee: The Valentine Party will be held on February 15 at 6 pm with Wm Curry catering

Unfinished Business: Trip to Tomb of the Unknowns. Deposit was made. Hope to have the itinerary ready by the next meeting.

Jim Keller and Dave Minot motioned to send $1000.00 to the Odd Fellows magazine to help defray their costs. Motion carried.

New Business: Would like to have a few volunteers to serve on the New Member Committee – notify NG Free if interested in serving; thank you to Dave Minot for the new pool pockets; Vietnam Veteran Bob Fink visited the Lodge before our meeting to look at our facility since they have no place to meet. They will meet on the 14th of January at 6 pm. Plan to meet the second Tuesday of each month. On March 29th the Vietnam Vets have an event at the Fair Grounds- they invited us to set up a table- they also invited us to set up a table during Fair Week with no charge to the Lodge; outside sign needs to have the interior and lighting worked on.

Good of the Order: Jerry said a review of our insurance will be done to be sure we have coverage since more people are using our building. Jerry will set up a date. Those interested are invited to attend. February cooks are Rick Tanner and Dave Minot; March cooks will be the Building

Finance Committee: No report Building Committee: chose Gohn & Stambaugh to replace the siding. Their bid was $23, 365.00. Social

Committee: Charlie reminded everyone of the Valentines dinner on February 15 and game night which is held the second Tuesday of each month.

Unfinished Business: Nancy reported on the itinerary for the Trip to the Unknowns - information will be sent to all our lodge members. Information will also be forwarded to the York Springs Lodge and to Justin. Vietnam Vets met on Tuesday with about 16 members present. There are some from this group that are interested in joining the Lodge. Some of the old Regalia will be displayed in our meeting room.

New Business: A letter from the Jurisdictional Joint Youth Committee which is composed of 20 members (3 from each of the five branches plus the branch leaders) is looking for Lodges to set up a youth group. The group requires a member of the Lodge or Rebekah serve as a youth advisor. The purpose is to provide educational, fun things for the youth and hopefully generating some new members for our lodge. This committee recommends establishing a United Youth Group since once a group is established it cannot be changed. The United Youth Group is for boys and girls.

Good of the Order: Mt. Vernon meeting will be held following this meeting

Bills: in the amount of $5363.21 were approved on a motion by Charles Males and Clark Ruppert Application for Membership: James H. Shiffer

Interviewing Committee Report: Committee met with James and deemed him fit for membership Balloting: n/a Degree work: Clark reported degree work will be held on February 17th for those needing 2nd degree

Finance Committee: Chair Richard Marks motioned the lodge grant free dues to our musician C. Ross Dellinger; seconded by Andy Strausbaugh, Motion approved. Ross shared his appreciation and thanks for this gesture.

Building Committee: The sign along the road will be changed over to LED which will provide more brightness and be more cost effective; Don Free is getting estimates. Building sign – 4x8 - name will reflect Odd Fellows name instead of just Mt. Zion; looking for someone who can help with the design. Blake Chronister suggested those who are working on the sign (road), give an estimate for the sign on the building. Suggestions were offered for designs - Those who are interested should talk with Don following this meeting.

Social Committee: Charlie reminded everyone of the Valentines dinner on February 15; Sight & Sound in September (date forthcoming) to see Queen Esther – cost is $20.00 each for a member and guest. Additional guests will pay full price. Charlie reminded everyone of game night which is held the second Monday of each month

Don Free said he would contact Logos and Big Brothers and Big Sisters to see if there was a possibility of partnering with them. Insurance Review will take place at 2 pm on February 17. All are invited to attend. Blake Chronister who is Commissioner of West York Boys Club - reported on their building - electric work is being done. The completion date is unknown at this time. He thanked us for our donation and continuing support.

New Business: PA Oath Keepers (Phil Smith) requested using the Lodge as a meeting place. Don asked us to think on this until the next meeting and pending insurance requirements. West Manchester Township said they will advertise our events on their website and in their newsletter if we provide them with the information in a timely manner. On Saturday, March 7 – West Manchester Township Fire Department will be presenting a plaque to the Lodge. Jerry would like someone to take pictures and send to media.
Jerry made a motion asking permission for the Financial Secretary and Treasurer to use a signature stamp for checks. Seconded by Dave Minot, motion carried.

Good of the Order: Thanks to our cooks Dave Minot and Rick Tanner for a delicious meal this evening.
